As a Greek living abroad who worships his homeland, his nation and his culture, I have struggled for years now, to promote issues that concern the Hellenic community of the United States, Greek-American relations, and the furtherance of Greek interests in any way that I can and from any position I have had the honor to hold; always supporting in every way, Greek Education and Culture internationally.
As a president of SAE U.S.A. for the last couple of years, I continue "serving" the community with the same ideals and values that characterize my multiannual course with visions for Hellenism as an ideology, for Greece and for the Greeks all over the globe. Always believing in the dictum "Unity is strength", I consider that the Greek nation and our national identity can preserve itself only through a united Hellenism and the continuation of our cultural identity.
The Greek culture and the Greek language throughout time remain the "links" that connect the Greeks living all over the world, throughout the centuries and for many generations.
In a time-period in which the history of Greece is challenged (as with the issue regarding the name of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia) and the identity of nations is rapidly crushed by globalization all over the world, I and SAE U.S.A. were prompted by all these factors to host the theatrical play "BACCHAE" by Euripides and to co-organize its tour in 17 U.S cities, under the auspices of SAE U.S.A. My choice firstly relies on the fact that it is about a Greek production that will travel internationally presenting a theatrical play of ancient Greek drama in the Greek language with English super titles. The ulterior purpose is the spreading of Greek culture and theater as well as the teaching of a classic and always timely, for any society, tragedy written by one of our biggest tragic poets, Euripides. The audience will consist of fellow Greek countrymen as well as of American and people from other countries.
Mr. Loizidis, a fighter for art, and an artist with morals and love for the qualitative theatre and for Greece, while continuing his twenty year old career, selected a difficult path to walk in order to turn a grandiose dream into reality: an international tour of a genuinely Greek art, portraying the dynamics and the greatness of Greece all over the world.
The theatrical production in question is also under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Tourist Development, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Organization for the Promotion of Greek Culture of Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Cypriot Democracy, as well as COMA (Cultural Organization of the Municipality of Athens) and UNESCO; giving a thrust of missionary flair to the promotion Greek culture abroad…
Therefore, I consider it to be the duty of SAE U.S.A. to promote this effort and to prove for once more its love for Hellenism and its support for persons and works which, having as a motive power their love for our homeland and our history, bring Greece yet another step forward....
