The renowned Greek-Cypriot stage director talks about his new project
30 January 2008

An hour with Loizides

He earned a degree in Film Directing. Leonidas Loizides, a Cypriot by birth, is a critically acclaimed theatre and film director.

He attended New York University, Tisch School of the Arts, but at the same time his artistic quest led him to "Sonia's Moore School of Acting - Teaching & Directing". Upon finishing his studies, he returned to Greece where he launched on an acting career participating in productions with great actors, directors and producers. "The time was perfect to seize the opportunity to prove my talent", Mr. Loizides says.

He cut his acting career short because of his real passion in life; directing plays and films. In this, he was highly encouraged by actors, directors, producers and critics with great names in the Greek theatre. In Athens he worked in famous theatres and staged a series of demanding plays which carried his personal touch, ranging from ancient tragedy to the contemporary scene.
